 2. Open deck

The open deck is a pile of face-up cards that the players discard during a game.

3. Closed deck

The closed deck is a pile of face-down cards, meaning that they are not disclosed until a player picks it upon their turn.

4. Draw and Discard

Each player, upon their turn, has to pick a card either from the closed deck or the open deck. This process is called drawing a card. When a player gets rid of a card and adds it to the open deck, it is called discarding a card.

5. Wild Joker

One random card is selected as the wild joker for a particular game after the cards are dealt with all the players. All cards of the same rank, regardless of the suit are considered as jokers. This card can be used as a substitute to build a set or a sequence.

6. Hand

In 13-card rummy, each player on the table is dealt with 13 cards each at the beginning of the game. This is called a hand and in order to win a game, every player has to arrange these cards into sequences and sets.

7.Sequence

a)  Pure Sequence: A group of three or more cards with a consecutive value of the same suit is called a pure sequence.

b)  Impure Sequence: An impure sequence is the same, only a joker is added to complete the sequence.

8. Set

A set is a group of three or more cards of the same rank that are unsuited. You can choose to use a joker to build a set.
